Gaudete Sunday

This 3rd Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday. It takes its name from the opening Latin word of the Entrance Antiphon. Gaudete Sunday marks the halfway point of Advent. It offers a brief respite from the intense work of repentance and renewal. The rose candle and vestments reflect the upbeat liturgical mood. The 4th Sunday of Lent, Laudate (“Praise”) Sunday, has a similar meaning.
