New Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney

Pope Francis has appointed Fr Anthony Percy Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney. Fr Percy was born in Sydney and grew up in Cooma. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW before joining the Seminary. Ordained as priest in December 1990, he served as Assistant Priest in several parishes before completing doctoral studies in theology in USA. He returned as Parish Priest of Goulburn before Cardinal George Pell appointed him Rector of the Seminary of the Good Shepherd Homebush (2009-2014). He returned to the Archdiocese of Canberra-Goulburn as Vicar General (2015-2023), while serving as Parish Priest of Wanniassa and then Queanbeyan. He will be ordained in St Mary's Cathedral on Saturday, 2 May. Please pray for him.
