Christmas Season
The Christmas Season extends from Christmas Eve until the Sunday after the Solemnity of the Epiphany (on or after 6 January). The liturgical colour is white or gold (celebrating Good News). The Season includes the Solemnity of the Nativity of our Lord (25 December), the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph (Sunday in the Octave (8 days) of Christmas) and the Solemnities of Mary, Mother of God (1 January) and the Epiphany of the Lord (Sunday between 2 and 8 January). The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord (Sunday after the Epiphany) is the final day of the Christmas Season. The first week of Ordinary Time begins the next day. Other Feasts during the Season honour St Stephen (26 December), St John the Evangelist (27 December), Holy Innocents (28 December) and Ss Basil the Great and Gregory Nazianzen (2 January).
