Liverpool Parish: Where Grace Manifests in Waves
Within my short time here at All Saints Parish, Liverpool, the grace of priestly ministry has been unfolding in waves that continue to surprise me. It feels as though God is gently reawakening in me the joy, the tenderness, and the sacred weight of pastoral life. What I see in this parish mirrors Pope Francis’ vision of synodality – a Church that walks together, listens together, and serves together. The collaboration between priests and lay staff is not only admirable; it is deeply evangelical, a living sign of the Gospel at work.
Fr Armah speaks constantly of the goodness of the parishioners of Liverpool – and now I understand why. You are a people who live the hope of the Gospel in a way that disrupts the ordinary and makes the love of neighbour possible, natural, and effortless.
What a community. What a blessing. What a place to rediscover the goodness we are and the goodness God is making possible among us. Here, I am reminded that ministry is not only what we do but who we become. It is the slow, beautiful work of God shaping us through one another until His grace becomes visible in our shared life and His love becomes the ground on which we stand.
